Chris Grieve’s monograph presents a collection of stunning photographs that riff on the theme of ‘A Kind of Blue’. The title and approach to making the work were inspired by Miles Davis’s seminal jazz album "Kind of Blue”. Inspired by the volcanic and glacial landscapes of the Stokksnes region of Iceland’s southern coast, these images represent Chris’s improvisational response to the sights, sounds and sensations she experienced during an intensive trip in 2025. This book presents beautiful imagery that spans representational depictions of landscapes and seascapes to fully abstract work that capture the essential power and sublime nature of this part of the world. Chris set out to create something that goes beyond “place”, a book that expresses not only feelings of awe, in the truest sense of the word, but also communicates the wild joy she felt being outside with her camera in such raw nature. Each image is a work of art in its own right, and sequenced together the collection offers a unique artistic take on improvisation and response to the natural world. Something for you to savour and get lost within its pages.
Softcover, A4 landscape (29.7cm x 21cm), 48 pages, 38 photographs.
